Privacy Policy

Tuus News ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Tuus Media Inc. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Tuus News to deliver facts, not to monetize your attention or your data.

1. What We Collect

When you create an account and use Tuus News, we collect:

• Account information — email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text).
• Profile preferences — the topics you follow, your country, and display settings.
• Usage data — which stories you read, how long you spend in the app, and which features you use. This helps us improve recommendations.
• Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
• Payment information — subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive a confirmation of your subscription status but never see your payment card details.

2. What We Do Not Collect

• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers.
• We do not build advertising profiles.
• We do not collect precise location data. Your country setting is chosen by you.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Personalize your feed — deliver stories matching the topics you follow.
• Improve recommendations — understand which summaries are most useful so we can improve our AI pipeline.
• Communicate with you — send service emails (account verification, subscription receipts, critical updates). No marketing emails unless you opt in.
• Maintain and improve the app — diagnose bugs, monitor performance, and plan new features.

4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude) — powers our AI summarization. Article text is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic does not use this data to train models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Analytics — we use privacy-focused analytics to understand app usage in aggregate. No personally identifiable information is shared with analytics providers.
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store — handle all payment processing for subscriptions.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

• All personal data (email, preferences, reading history) is permanently deleted within 30 days.
• Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained as it cannot be linked back to you.

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the app or by emailing privacy@tuusnews.com.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) and follow security best practices. Access to user data is restricted to essential personnel only.

7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Regardless of where you live, we provide the following rights to all users:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Correction — update inaccurate information.
• Deletion — delete your account and all associated data.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — opt out of non-essential data processing.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. To exercise any right, contact privacy@tuusnews.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Tuus News is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@tuusnews.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or email. Continued use of Tuus News after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
